
Mike was born and raised in the town of Garner, North Carolina, located just outside of Raleigh. He attended North Carolina State University, from which he received a Political Science degree. During his college years, Mike began working for a private company and became a minority owner and business manager. Also while in school, Mike enlisted in the North Carolina Army National Guard and served until his honorable discharge in 1996. He later entered the financial services industry where his prior experience has proven beneficial to his client base of business owners, young executives, retirees and businesses.
Mike's desire for independence and transparency with his clients led him to establish Guardian Capital Advisors, LLC, a Registered Investment Advisor. In addition to being the managing member, Mike is an Investment Advisor Representative at GCA and a Registered Representative of Triad Advisors. He is Securities licensed and is registered to conduct fee-based planning as well as transaction-based investing. Mike has clients in six states and holds life and health insurance and long-term care licenses. He coordinates the firms efforts on corporate retirement planning.
Mike received his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM certification from the Certified Financial Planner, Board of Standards, Inc. and the Chartered Financial Consultant designation from the American College. He also earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® designation at the Center for Fiduciary Studies and the Chartered Retirement Plan Specialist from the College for Financial Planning. Mike is a member of the Financial Planning Association (FPA) and the Financial Services Institute (FSI).
Mike lives in Raleigh with his wife, Deborah, his daughters, Olivia, Sarah Ann, and Margaret and their two Labradoodles, Marley and Pitch. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, attending sporting events, golfing, and reading. Mike is a member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church and supports a variety of local charities focused on children and adolescents.
